Speaking of different body shapes. These are all basically peak human bodies.

How come 99% of them don’t conform to what the entertainment industry tells us is the perfect body?

This is a FABULOUS set of body refs. So glad this came back across my dash so I could reblog it here :D

Thorne Bay House by Bossley Architects, located in Takapuna, New Zealand.

A compact house designed for a beautiful but small and near-impossible site! The desire not to damage the trees or their extensive root systems, combined with the steep slope and limited turning circle for cars, the rock outcrops, and the restrictive planning controls resulted in an innovative building which and is squeezed under, around and between the limbs of the trees, and still manages to take full advantage of the site, the sun and the views.

The character of the house changes as it rises from the ground towards the sky. The ground floor level comprises orthogonal spaces, which follow the slope in a series of steps down towards the sea, providing sea views from each level. Upstairs, the rooms become more angular and free flowing, to reflect the contortions of the pohutukawa limbs.

Think of the kia-ora crows, I wonder what those, little guys know. They seem to know something running around but what if they end up in a game of twister what if they call their accidental wife mister. Least he seemed communist im not a realist. I listen to Stanley Kowalski I am a natural actor. Tennessee Williams! Tennessee Williams!

They were talking about the plays of Tennessee Williams on Graham Norton and all I could hear in my head was Russell screaming, “Tennessee Williams! Tennessee Williams!”.

This is a large-format colour photograph of a girl standing on a beach. Holding her arms awkwardly to her sides, her palms pressed against the tops of her thighs, she stares intensely at the viewer. She is wearing a black and white stripy swimsuit and has a fine gold chain around her neck. Pictured in bright sunlight, she casts a shadow on the sand directly behind her as her long, black hair streams out to her right in the wind. The image is formally composed. Dijkstra used flash in combination with natural light and a narrow depth of field, placing only the foreground and subject in focus, with the result that she appears artificially illuminated. Framed full-length in the centre of the picture, she stands out against a backdrop made of bands of colour. Strong horizontals are provided by the sea edge on the sand and the line where sea meets clear blue sky. Unlike the traditional portrait which is normally titled with the subject’s name, this work’s title states the location and date of the meeting between artist and girl. It is one of a series of twenty Beach Portraits (formerly known as Bathers) which Dijkstra created between 1992 and 1998.
